HI-REVIEW: Round Lab Birch Juice Moisturizing Sunscreen SPF50+ PA++++
Hey Beauties!
Have you been applying your sunblock? Getting your daily vitamin D is important, however it is equally important to protect yourself using sunscreen especially in New Zealand! Protecting your skin can decrease your risk of skin cancers but also prevent skin ageing and hyperpigmentation.
I have the opportunity to test the newly formulated Birch Juice Moisturizing Sunscreen SPF 50+ PA++++! Keep reading for more details :)
Price: $35
Quantity: 50mL
Personally, I like to use the two finger method. I apply two lines of sunblock to my fingers and apply that amount to my face and neck. This can be a lot for some people so adjust how you personally like. I only apply this much when I leave the house and not every single day!
The texture of this product is not VERY different from other facial sunscreens. However, for those who don’t really own a separate sunblock for their face, facial sunblocks are more light, watery and easy to spread!
When applied, it leaves the face feeling non-greasy but moisturized. I would say this sunscreen leaves the skin slightly more glossy than semi-matte, however it does dry down a decent amount so you won’t be left looking super shiny. This product also does have a slight scent that all classic sunblocks have! But it's super minimal so I wouldn’t worry about it too much even if you are sensitive to smell.
Based on my personal method of applying sunblock, it passes the white-cast test! Applying a decent amount of sunblock only gives me a really minimal white-cast. Although I can’t test this on skin tones darker than my own, I believe this product will also appear translucent on most skin tones.
In the few weeks that I tested this sunscreen, I had no problems with any irritation bumps or acne flaring up. Because of the light and watery texture, I was able to wear my normal skincare and makeup without any signs of pilling :)

This product is considered a chemical sunscreen as the filters found in this product absorb UV rays to protect the skin. For those interested, the sunscreen agents found in this product are: Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate, Ethylhexyl Triazone, Methylene Bis-Benzotriazolyl Tetramethylbutylphenol, Diethylhexyl Butamido Triazone which work to protect against UVA and UVB radiation.
On the skincare side, this sunscreen contains many ingredients to help the skin. It contains natural birch sap as well as forms of hyaluronic acid that act to protect and moisturize irritated and dry skin leaving the skin feeling refreshed. It also contains a decent amount of niacinamide which is proven to be a great ingredient for acne and anti-ageing!
Personal Opinion
Personally, I really loved this sunscreen! I couldn’t find a single issue with this sunscreen. On my dry-combination skin type, this sunscreen felt really hydrating and didn’t emphasize or worsen any of my dry spots. As I mentioned earlier, this product does dry down but will leave more of a glossy finish than a matte one. If this is something you are concerned with, you can apply a thin layer of powder on your T-zone to tone down the shininess.
I would honestly recommend this sunblock for any skin type. Not only does it have ingredients that help with acne and dehydrated skin but it is also non-greasy and light in consistency which is great for those with oilier skin types. The only skin type I would recommend to be cautious would probably be those who already know they have sensitivities towards chemical sunscreens.
