HI-REVIEW: Round Lab 1025 Dokdo Cleansing Oil

by Cindy Lu

Hey Beauties!

Have you all heard of Round Lab before? It’s a relatively new brand but is well known for their incredibly gentle yet effective products, you might’ve heard of their 1025 Dokdo Toner.

But today, I’ll be introducing the Round Lab 1025 Dokdo Cleansing Oil! This product claims to be a “fresh cleansing oil that does not leave a heavy or stuffy finish. It will create healthy skin with absolute cleansing that removes even color makeup and sebum”

Price: $32

Quantity: 200mL

How to Use:

  1. Apply an appropriate amount to the dry face
  2. Massage the content onto the entire face to melt away makeup and impurities
  3. Apply a small amount of water and massage until the water turns milky and white
  4. Rinse off with lukewarm water

For people who have never used an oil cleanser before, it's super important to properly emulsify the cleanser to ensure you are washing off the oils and impurities properly. This happens when you add water to the ‘dry’ oil and it turns milky and white! Make sure you massage thoroughly for proper cleansing :)

In terms of the texture and fragrance of this product, there is nothing that stands out particularly. The actual oil cleanser is clear and light, it is easy to apply and wash off unlike other super viscous oil cleansers. There is also a slight sweet fragrance to the oil which I only noticed when paying special attention to it so it isn’t strong at all!

The 1025 Dokdo Cleansing Oil, and oil cleansers in general, can provide different benefits compared to water-based cleansers that we are more familiar with.

  • Lift excess sebum
  • Clean out clogged pores
  • Remove dead skin, makeup, and sunscreens

They can do this while protecting the integrity of the skin barrier, whereas some harsh water-based cleansers can worsen dryness and exacerbate issues like acne and rashes!

When I used the 1025 Dokdo Cleansing Oil as a single cleanser, it left my skin feeling clean but super supple without stripping all the moisture from my skin which I thought was great - although it is still important to apply the rest of your routine to hydrate the skin. I found it amazing to use as part of a double cleanse routine because of how gentle it was. Even though I was cleansing my skin twice, I never felt that ‘squeaky’ or dry feeling post-wash that you can sometimes get with a strong cleanser.

In terms of makeup, it removes foundation and any powders seamlessly, but to my surprise, it does a decent job at removing waterproof mascara as well. With one cleanse, I was able to get rid of 80% of my mascara which I found impressive, especially because the 1025 Dokdo line products are quite mild and gentle! With a second cleanse, I was able to get most of my mascara off which I would say is pretty good :)

Personal Opinion

Personally, I found that the 1025 Dokdo Cleansing Oil worked wonderfully for my skincare routine. For my combination/acne-prone skin, it didn’t cause any irritation or break me out when using it in the few weeks that I was testing it. For me, I found that overtime this cleanser slowly reduces sebum and clogged pores as well, however not drastically.

I would recommend those with any skin type to try this cleansing oil! It would be an especially great addition if you often use makeup or apply sunscreen as it works great as part of a double cleanse routine. However, it may potentially cause issues for those with extremely sensitive skin as there is quite a large range of different oils used in this product which could cause irritation!
