Coachella's Evolution: The Experiential Marketing Arms Race

If I ever went to Coachella, I wouldn’t be front row; I’d be 10mins from the venue at K-Beauty Lounge, stopping by Medicube’s Glowtel, and trying to get an invite to Rhode World.

I am the No. #1 victim of experiential marketing, and the FOMO from Coachella Weekend 1? It’s hitting me HARD.

Over the last decade, Coachella has evolved from a rock-leaning niche festival to something far more expansive - a global cultural phenomenon that orchestrates the biggest pop ups and activations from beauty, fashion and beverage brands alike.

Why? It’s not just to be seen, but to compete - if you’re not there, are you even in the race?

The best of brand world:

The K-Beauty Lounge

(Desert Edition)

A two day immersive experience that drew hundreds of influencers into a curated space that brings K-beauty to global audiences.

Day One - Led by Medicube, transformed into a full GRWM ecosystem!

Skincare prep, hair tools, Vanilla-Pistachio scented deodorant (OMG), sunscreen and hypochlorous sprays to battle the sun, heat and sweat in the valley.

Day Two - Expansion to SKIN1004, Beauty of Joseon, Mixsoon, Torriden & more.

The space flipped into a skincare sanctuary for influencers to get the full discovery experience; educators, samples, Instagrammable moments and goodie bags for the complete experience.

Medicube’s Glowtel

(70s themed Accomodation)

A retro-esque hotel with rooms decked out for influencers to enjoy! Diversity was prominent, with a strong presence of Asian and Latina creators - in an industry that historically struggles to show representation, Medicube hit the mark with this one.

Poppi

(Jake Estate & MickMansion)

Instead of the traditional influencer house model, Poppi added their own twist: Jake Estate and MickMansion where creators Jake Shane and Mick were invited alongside their friends.

My take? Genius. Influencer groups, friendship and sibling duos are making a strong comeback! People love seeing chemistry, inside jokes and dynamics to get a better vibe of what someone’s actually like - shoutout to Caitlin Emiko for seeing that one coming.
