This will probably be my favourite k-drama that I have watched this year (and I have watched a lot!). I feel like if I say this it sounds super dramatic and unbelievable 😂 But there’s a reason for this superlative statement. Moving is a supernatural genre k-drama with main characters that can fly, have superhuman senses, strength and even recover quickly from death. If it wasn’t for my colleague raving about this k-drama, I wouldn’t even have bothered to watch the first episode. Honestly, these types of genres don’t really interest me at all but my gosh, I’m so glad I watched the first episode!

From the very episode, I was hooked! I haven’t seen a k-drama take on supernatural powers that fit into the characters’ everyday lives so naturally. We first meet Kim Bong-seok (Lee Jung-ha), who’s inherited flying and superhuman senses from his parents. For pretty much all his life, he grew up raised by his single mother, Lee Mi-hyun (Han Hyo-joo). She did everything in her power to stop him from flying. When Bong-seok was younger he flew in front of his classmates. Not only did he get ridiculed by his classmates’ parents but got kicked out of the kindergarten for scaring the children. To prevent Bong-seok from being treated like a ‘monster’, Mi-hyun sheltered him away from a lot of the real world, scared that he will use his powers in front of everyone again. Ever since he was little, she made Bong-seok wear weights around his leg, constantly feeding him and making sure he’s drinking lots of water to keep himself full. This way he wouldn’t accidentally float up and start flying.

This control led Bong-seok to grow up super naive with a low self-esteem until he meets Jang Hui-soon (Go Youn-jung), who was raised by just her dad, Jang Ju-won (Ryu Seung-ryong). She just transferred to his high school after getting kicked out due to a bullying incident. Like her dad, she has his super strength and recovers from her injuries ultra-quickly. She’s strong-headed, stands up for the weak and soon develops a close relationship with Bong-seok. A love triangle starts between them and Lee Kang-hoon (Kim Do-hoon), the class president. In the beginning of the k-drama, Kang-hoon seems cold-hearted and mysterious so little is known about what his superpowers are.

Even though the first half of the k-drama revolves around their high school life (with Bong-seok and Jang Jui-soon’s cute relationship thrown in between 😍), the k-drama then moves into their parents' backgrounds. It keeps the k-drama interesting especially because their parents were part of South Korea’s NIS (National Intelligence Service). Scenes show what their job entails and how they met their partners before they had kids. But what I’m curious about is how this k-drama will move forward with the already suspenseful scenes that occurred in the first half.

Each parent, whether currently in their children’s life or not, are sacrificing their all to protect their children. But when there are assassins out to get them and their children, how far are they willing to go? With only a few episodes left, I can’t imagine how this k-drama will finish off; there are SO many unanswered questions. Or will there be a season 2? 🤯 If you want to get more of an idea of how this k-drama plays around with the supernatural genre, definitely give the trailer a watch here! Everything about this k-drama is incredible - highly recommend you start watching on Disney+ now!
