#K-Drama: You’ll Never See this Prosecutor, One Full of Tricks

Bad Prosecutor | 진검승부 (2022)

KBS | Bad Prosecutor

Honestly, the biggest reason why I started watching Bad Prosecutor was because EXO’s Doh Kyung-soo was starring in it. I just had to with EXO being the first k-pop group I got into 🥰 He has gotten a lot of praise for his acting in the past, so I was intrigued to see how he would play the role of a prosecutor. Being the first k-drama I watched starring Kyung-Soo, I was very much taken aback. It was a little unexpected to see how good his acting was especially, because this prosecutor is so out of the ordinary 😂 Not only did his acting shock me but this k-drama exceeded my expectations and had my eyes glued to the screen every single episode!

Like I said Jin Jeong (Do Kyung-soo) is not your ordinary prosecutor. From his permed bleached hair to his casual streetwear, you can instantly tell he was the rebellious student in school and he’s still the same even as a prosecutor. That said, he’s actually a very passionate one mostly because of his big sense of serving justice. He never thinks about the consequences and even sacrifices himself… and his friends too 😅 In a world full of evil, at least he’s got his friends and colleagues who follows his guidance and is part of his crazy plans.

Jin Jeong and his friends turn the whole plot around with their hilarious incidents that they put themselves in. I personally really like the contrast of the serious law cases that they are involved in with the wacky situations they put themselves in. It offers something a little different to similar k-dramas genres that I have watched in the past. They use tricks to get what they want from those in power, though it may seem unmannerly and unlawful. And of course, causing a lot of disturbance to the public during all this. This goes as far as prank calling an airline by falsely reporting a bomb threat on the plane. All to prevent the criminal from taking off! It sure caused a lot of ruckus, even bringing in the country’s armed forces to stop this said “bomb.” Jin Jeong and his friends' plans are always spontaneous and totally reckless. Some may even call them clumsy, but at the end of the day they always pull through 👏🏻

The k-drama is quite fast-paced starting off from the first episode. Jin Jeong is assigned to a murder case where at first, it seems like a simple open and shut case. But with Jin Jeong’s gut instincts, there is no way this case is that simple. And he was right! Jin Jeong later finds out that the evidence dictates to a right-handed killer while the one involved was left-handed. And the murderer involved may just be working at his own law firm. From this, he starts to investigate deeper into this case. Jin Jeong is even more suspicious when the district prosecutor of his law firm wants to close this case as quickly as possible. He soon discovers that the law firm higher ups might have been more involved than he and the viewers think. This leads Jin Jeong and his friends to be the one to thoroughly investigate, even going against his senior demands. As each episode unfolds with more details about this murder case, the murderer seems to be at the very top of the law firm’s. Seemingly involved behind the scenes and using everyone else as their puppets.

Jin Jeong is carefree and ruthless when he is going against those in power. His trickeries and unlawful doings seem to be the only way to catch the upper class. Afterall, those in power in the k-drama are doing exactly the same. What makes them different is the wealth and connections that they have to get away with it. In a world full of evil, it’s refreshing to see Jin Jeong’s passion in seeking justice to those who do wrong. With every episode, it’s a guessing game on which one is the real murderer behind this complicated murder case 🤯 Click here for the trailer for a sneak peek that will all leave you intrigued!
