Do We Need Sleeping Masks In Our Routine?

by Lauren Harrison

Hi Beauties~

Sleeping Masks (to me) are an essential part of the Korean Skincare Routine. They are great on those nights where your skin is having a troublesome time, whether it is more dry, oily or dehydrated than usual. I think that sleeping masks are a great way to go and it’s nice to take a break from your usual moisturiser every now and again! And a small side note, sleeping masks can also be known as sleeping packs!

To explain what sleeping masks are, you would put them on as the last step of your nightly skincare routine. You can apply it after moisturiser or just use it as a moisturiser on it’s own! It’s really up to you. I always change it up, depending on which sleeping mask I am using and how my skin is feeling that night. Sleeping masks are also generally only used once or twice a week when you want to give your skin a boost or a pick me up, however most are safe to use every night as well and that all depends on your own skin!

Sleeping Masks consistency is not like a normal mask. They are quite easy to compare to moisturisers as they absorb into the skin, not leaving any residue on your skin and making it quite comfortable to sleep with as you cannot feel it on your skin at all.

In these photos above I used the Huxley Secret of Sahara Sleep Mask! As you can see, the texture of this sleeping mask is quite gel-like. You only need to use a little bit and it will cover your whole face! Sleeping masks, once put on, gives your skin a nice glow and intensely hydrates the skin while you sleep!

In the morning, when you wake up you will need to wash your sleeping mask off with water. The mask is intended for staying on your skin for an extended period of time, however it’s not something that is meant to stay on all day unless stated otherwise on the packaging. If you want to wear a sleeping mask during the day, make sure you wear sunscreen!

Now I am going to recommend a couple of my favourite sleeping masks that we sell here at HIKOCO and give you some information about them!

Laneige Water Sleeping Mask

The Laneige Water Sleeping Mask is one of the most popular sleeping masks that we sell and all for a good reason too. This sleeping mask is amazingly hydrating and moisturising, which in the morning leaves your skin looking more glowy and feeling much more moisturised!

✔️ This sleeping mask is best for Dehydrated Dry Skin.

COSRX Low BHA Overnight Mask

This sleeping mask is by far one of my favourites when I am having troubled skin! We already have a review written on the COSRX Low pH BHA Overnight Mask, so please feel free to go and check it out! Although we unfortunately discontinued this product in HIKOCO, this mask is great for minimizing pores, sebum control and acne care thanks to the main ingredient BHA!

✔️ This sleeping mask is best for Oily/Acne Prone skin.

Huxley Secret of Sahara Sleeping Mask

The Huxley Sleep Mask; Good Night mask is one of my favourites to use for my dry skin! Quite often in Winter my skin dries out very easily and some nights my normal moisturiser is not enough. So on those nights that’s when I use this mask and my skin loves it! The next day, my skin is feeling moisturised and looks moisturised too!

✔️ This mask is best for Dry/Non-Sensitive Skin

I hope that this HI-TIP helped you beauties today and gave you a good introduction to sleeping masks. Sleeping masks are honestly one of my favourite steps of my skincare routine and I hope that you can incorporate this step into yours!

Thanks Beauties~
