The Wonyoungism strikes again… is this viral hairbrush actually worth the hype?

'Ribbon Cherry Hair Brush'

When our Queen of Asia and K-pop it girl Jang Wonyoung unveiled her FOREVER: CHERRY x Medicube collab four days ago, my initial thought was, “Oh! A pink hairbrush…”

Respectfully, I didn’t really get the hype and couldn't quite grasp why the internet was going crazy over something so… ordinary. Sure, its pink, its cute, and its cherry themed - but it kind of just looks like my pink Tangle Teezer??

Tangle Teezer's The Original

That’s the power of the Wonyoung effect.

Call it consumerism or overconsumption, this is actually pretty genius. Regardless of whether the product was something revolutionary like a new skincare innovation or patented device, nobody would’ve really cared - they would’ve bought it anyway.

Why? Because it offers proximity to the Wonyoung-verse: polished femininity, curated girlhood, and aspirational beauty and aura that encapsulates the standard of Asian beauty. This is smart, calculated, celebrity branding - and they shouldn’t stop there.

I’d build an entire cherry shelf:

Cherry Gloss Hair Serum 🍒🌟

(The Hero Product, Obviously.)

The cherry brush already gives you that visual cue: shine. So why not build on that?

A gloss serum instantly extends that story and taps into Wonyoung’s ‘goddess hair’ and the already thriving trends surrounding glossy hair. This is a strong functional anchor for their line and gives FOREVER: CHERRY their first true hero SKU to set them up for a scalable franchise - it’s cute, and gloss sells!

Cherry Hair Perfume 🍧🌸

(Or Mist??)

This feels Wonyoung-coded, and goes beyond visuals; it’s sensory-coded, purse-friendly, and something that would ideally suit most hair-types.

What makes this revolutionary… I hear you, but it’s deeper than you think. We’re turning cherry into more than just an ingredient - it’s a mood, an aura and aesthetic that brings consumers into the brand universe

It’s soft. Feminine. Youthful. Playful (think Cherry Blossom Sorbet)

Cherry Repair Mask 🧁💫

(Because We Don’t Play)

Somewhere between the iconic hero and beautiful scents, the shelf’s going to need some functional credibility… Which is exactly what the Cherry Hair Repair Mask is going to do.

Surprise! Cherry extracts actually have benefits for your hair:

  • Vitamin A: hydrates scalp for follicle health

  • Vitamin B, E + Biotin: stimulates hair growth

  • Vitamin C + Iron: strengthens hair, reduces breakage

  • Antioxidants: soothe scalp irritation

This is how they’re going to turn these collectables into a category and line that “actually does something.”

Leave-In Detangler 🎀🪮

(This Is a No-Brainer)

You sold the brush… now sell something designed specifically to work with the brush.

This is an easy extension that needs no explanation and a great way to tie the products together and turn it into a hair-care routine and ritual that you’ll look forward to! (Plus, marketing loves a system.)

Tangle Teezer's Detangling Set

Picture this with a side of cherry scrunchies, ribbon hairclips, a compact mirror and a pink drawstring pouch, and the whole vision is complete! A cute, collectable, brand that draws you in visually, but gets you addicted because it delivers on all fronts.

Right now, FOREVER: CHERRY x Medicube just feels like another one of her collabs, except she's dropping an ordinary (but pretty I’ll admit) brush. Why not harness the full potential of Wonyoungism?
