"We hope music itself can be heard and loved rather than being distinguished by region or language. We thank ARMY and everyone who has always stood by us."
The announcement arrives just weeks after the Recording Academy revealed the new category, which quickly became a controversial topic among fans. While some welcomed the recognition of Asian artists, others questioned whether creating region-specific awards helps celebrate global music (or simply separates it.)
