Missed 2025 Australian Fashion Week? Don’t fret, we didn’t. This year's killer looks, upcoming trends, and spicy drama are right at your fingertips - no VIP access needed.
Australian Fashion Week 2025 brought a fresh wave of conversation to Sydney’s streets and runways were flooded with style, sass and synergy! This year’s event was a true reflection of where fashion - and the culture around it - is headed. From designer debuts to upcoming trends, here’s the full run down on everything you've missed (with no shortage of drama of course).
The hottest looks, brands, and tea:
If you wanted inspiration, Sydney’s streets were the place to be last week - influencers brought their A-game and each arrival felt like a mini runway show in itself. Bold textures, playful proportions and personal flair stole the spotlight with unforgettable looks: Sopha Dopha’s viral two-piece and Tara Chandra’s playful looks were unmissable and honourable mentions of the street walk and talk.
Emily Quach - Silk, lace, fur, and flawless tailoring for chic and effortless elegance. Perfection.
Phoebe Spiller - Main character energy in corporate and sunnies, and adorable dalmations completed the look! Major 101 Dalmatian vibes.
Xiao Xiao Wang - Black leather bomber and bold details for the win; obsessed with the detailing on the leather bomber.
Sidewalks and runways worked have come to an agreement - rules were broken and fun was had! Barely-there sheer pieces brought a daring but feminine edge to classic silhouettes, while superfine suits and ties nodded to the Met Gala theme for this year. Pastel shades from sorbet yellow to mint green stole the show - a fresh change from the deep romantic colours of 2024.
Barely There - Layering sheer and mesh pieces for a feminine but bold look.
Suit Up - Tailored corporate wear to channel your inner boss girl.
Power to Pastels - Add sorbet yellows, soft pinks and mint greens to your wardrobe!
True fashion lies in evolution; classics were honoured while championing new voices in the New Generation category. Carla Zampatti, Bianca Spender and Aje delivered their signature sophistication with their signature twists, while Haluminous emerged as the new label that everyone’s buzzing about.
The exciting debut of NZ bag brand Saben featured on the catwalk in collaboration with Nagnata this year and was something not to miss - we love it when NZ makes it on the global runway!
Bianca Spender - The runway that influencers were obsessed with! The perfected balance of sheer fabrics, tailored jackets and pastels (true trend setters).
Haluminous - Served dark angelic, blended with gothic romance in elegance that stunned the walkway with an unexpected energy.
Saben x Nagnata - Athleisure met everyday essentials for sustainable and functional fits you’ll actually wear.
It wouldn’t be AFW without a little drama… if you’re chronically online like the rest of us, you’ve probably heard whispers of the “microtrend final boss” moment and numerous awkward interviews circulating on TikTok.
And if that wasn’t enough chaos, the show almost didn’t go on - IMG, the New York media company that owned and operated Australian Fashion Week for almost 20 years pulled out in November! Shark Beauty swooped in to save the day on March 12th, giving brands just a mere 2 months to prep their new collections. Wild.
Sopha Dopha vs. Jamie Azzopardi - Can you call someone out for being the face of microtrends? While wearing SHEIN??
Interview Controversy - Is it ethical to ask influencers how much they earn for clicks and views?
Saved by Shark Beauty - Major crisis averted thanks to the heroes of the year! Where would we be without AFW.
Bold, brilliant, and never boring; this year proved to be another unforgettable year that can’t be missed (or cancelled). Australian Fashion Week isn’t just about fashion - it celebrates individuality, expression and connection. Stay tuned - next year’s only getting bigger from here.
